SUPPORTING RESIDENTIAL

Adolescent Group Home, Mendon, MA: Full facility programming, architectural design and contract administration for this innovative 7,400 SF group home for eight to twelve adolescents with cognitive and physical challenges. The resultant new construction, wood frame house required coordination of structural engineering; as well as coordination of design-build mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security and data communication systems. This project furthered the development of this multi-service provider’s prototype for residential environments to provide supportive enriched housing in a scattered site, neighborhood setting. Our work included weekly site meetings, as well as integration of civil engineering and landscape design.

Smith House, Pembroke, MA: Full Facility Programming, Planning and Architectural Design Services for a new construction two wing group home for seniors with cognitive and physical challenges. Working on an established campus of supportive housing, this seemingly simple residential facility includes many planning and design features to enhance the home-like qualities of the environment while making caregiving and maintenance most efficient for the 24 hour staff. The two distinct residential wings are linked through a common atrium, which was created to allow for a future day habitation program under state regulations. Our work included detailed site selection within the 75 acre campus and existing buildings and roads, as well as full Construction Administration.
